About Elena and K.K. Wu
Elena Wu
Born in Hong Kong, Elena's family moved to Long Island, NY in 1966. With an indomitable entrepreneurial spirit, a vital romance for cooking, a meticulous capacity for organization and culinary keenness, Elena has taught Chinese cooking in local schools across Burlington and Camden Counties.
Elena opened her first restaurant in Marlton, NJ in 1986 and moved to Voorhees, NJ to open Chez Elena Wu in 1998. She has had a successful restaurant business since day one.
Elena learned the basics of French cooking by attending the Culinary Institute of America and traveling to Paris. On mastering the difficult art of French cuisine, Elena said, "I ate a lot of French food, and I figured it out. If you are a good cook, you learn when you eat. And then, I just played around."
With her husband, K.K., Elena has mothered three wonderful children, twin sons and a daughter.
She is an old timer here in Southern New Jersey and shares an obsession for great food!
